Tip: Things to do in Rio that is not Carnival

If you think that Rio during the Carnival only has it, you were almost right, I said almost. Why? Because its several other things to do before, during and after Carnival, yes the city still has life after it (in my particular opinion a way better life).

Among the things to do here I can list some great ones:

- Go tracking, is cheap, healthy, fun and the best is that you can find out some great spots and have nice views from the city, including some of the famous places, like Sugar Loaf (easy to walk to the first hill and not that hot), Corcovado (this is more hardcore, but not impossible since I have done myself, and the best way is trough the same path that the train goes, one of the best views), Pedra da Gavea (hard also, this I gave up) and Pedra Bonita (that you can also after can go hang gliding).

- If you like the beaches but tired of the crowd go to some waterfalls, the great part of them are localized inside the Urban Forest (Parque da Tijuca) and the access is not difficult, you can get a easy one trough Horto near to Jardim Botanico. Clean and refreshing water and the best, inside the forest.

- Ride a bike near to the beach or rent one by the lake (Lagoa), it is a nice ride and after to refresh yourself you can get a cold and sweet coconut water.

- Also by the lake you can rent one of the boats for a romantic ride inside the lake and see the sunset

- But if you cannot get away from the beaches a nice option is to wake up earlier and go to Prainha, Grumari or Joatinga, very beautiful ones but a little far from the south area (its located after Barra da Tijuca). And if you wanna go even further why not to cross the bay and go to Niteroi...very nice beaches there, like Itacoatiara (full of young and beautiful people like Ipanema), Camboinhas (my favorite, more family friendly, calm waters) or Piratininga.

- If you wanna dance at night you can go to Lapa, that has several options as bars and clubs, but do not expect too much, to get completely away from Carnival there, probably on the clubs and streets that is what you gonna hear.

- And as usual it always have the option mall, movie and sometimes some museums.
